The Medieval Era encompasses two distinct ages: the Dark Ages (AD 500-1000) and the Middle Ages (AD 1000-1450). During this era Western Europe was shroud in darkness following the fall of Rome. Innovations left by the ancients were all but lost and the civilizations of Western Europe had to reboot, finally getting their bearings around AD 1000. |
